Zines, zines and more zines

Tcaf was awesome! I got a TON of cool zines and comics... and I got to meet some of my personal heroes (John Porcelino and Chester Brown... among others). I will stay a few more days in Toronto just wandering around. Any torontonian wants to buy me a beer?

I was actually looking for you at the TCAF but it's kinda hard to find somebody if you don't know what he looks like (beside fat and weird glasses.. that really didn't help there!) and he doesn't have a fixed place/time where you could meet him :)

People still make zines these days!?

I like the concept of them and all but doesn't the cost and easy of digital publishing make this a far more attractive option for the small publisher?

phyrex, you should have contacted me through email... I actually met a few people that know me from the blog that way.

That's awesome that you got to meet Chester Brown! I Never Liked You is one of my favorite GN. And nice zines!

And yes, T. Roger Thomas, some people still make zines!

Alex, I thought you had a table there and only realized that you didn't when I was already at the TCAF. If you're still in town I'll be happy to buy you a coffee though :) [I'm not a big fan of beer ;) ]

I'd be glad to take you somewhere interesting, but unfortunately I don't drink. :D
Just sent you an e-mail. Let me know!

Cheers!

Hey Alex,

First of all, I love your blog, I always came here to check out the news!

I'm from Brasil, but I spend a time in Toronto a few years ago and I was luck to find The Beguiling! It's the dream of anyone who likes comic books! You should go there, I'm pretty sure you'll like it!

Enjoy Toronto!

I'll take a shot in the wild dark and (unsafely) suggest Paul Hornschemeier (http://dailyforlorn.tumblr.com/ and Fantagraphics books) if you're not already familiar, which I would surprised if you weren't! His graphic and story-telling styles place me immediately into the narrative, just like yours. I've just discovered you thanks to a recommendation, what great pieces!
