All of your other bits of wisdom are incredibly poignant, but this is a totally trite and useless. It allows for this idea that when all else fails, blame the corporation. It is the only one that teaches the reader that "you are a victim". I think that is shitty teaching. Also, it's odd juxtaposed your disgust with going free-lance it is contradictory.
I would have said something along the lines of "Corporations are in business to take as much they can from you and still keep you coming back for more. You might as well return the favor."
Sorry if that sounded mean. Just juxtaposed everything else here it just was so rehashed. Your work is title "stuff no one told me" and you have a unique a unique, honest and useful way of communication, but in this case you hear this message constantly in that we are weary of it and it means nothing anymore. It's struck me as hollow, that's all.
Good luck with everything you do and I hope to see more of your illustrations. They are wonderful. Don't let critics like me slow you down.
I actually never worked for a big company, but I'm working for a very small company at the moment, and feel they suck my blood and my energy, not my soul yet, fortunately. I will quit before they do.
So I guess you should always reflect who you work for, no matter if big or small, and avoid them if they don't care about you.
Worked in a place with 40ish people total and: Soul sucking nightmarish clique.
Work now for a company in the news practically every day (so it's pretty big I guess), and it somehow still feels like a family. I am aware this isn't the norm, and different areas of the company may be different, but I think it's important to note that you may find the job you fit in at the place you least expect.
Something someone one taught me, didn't listen, and learned the hard way myself; never stay someplace where you stop learning.
Just found your blog and I love it :)Waiting for more... And, yes...I do agree - big companies do everything to squeeze the soul and passion for life out of you. Middle-sized also do. I am not sure if the answer is to free-lance too. I just know u should insist on doing the things u love :)
What Anna said. I never want to work for anyone who/that does not share the same values that I do. You're then directly supporting something you may not believe in. Great work, I'll be coming back!
Me too! Loved your work. I will publish two cartoons with your credits, of course. If you have any problem with that please leave me a comment. Thank you! Difficult to choose. :)

fact: small and medium companies do the same!! i think it is a problem of living in the 20th century or in the 21st one.
darn true, even if they're only pseudo-big...
too bad no one told me that before ;/

I work for a big company. They haven't tried to suck out my soul. They've just tried to crush it.
I won't let them though.
Me too!
